Patients attend or are referred after experiencing symptoms or have had an abnormal test result. Our responsibility is to consult, assess, investigate and provide an accurate diagnosis or cause for the medical problem. Following the diagnosis, we will recommend a plan for management and treatment.
To make a diagnosis, we will request for tests to be performed. Blood tests which will check for markers for the body’s function and radiology, which provide internal images of the body may be requested. Endoscopy, procedures performed under anaesthesia in hospital, may be required to help with the diagnostic process.
A diagnosis is made after the findings of the history, examination and investigation are compiled and interpreted. The medical condition is then treated or managed accordingly (see outcomes).
